Overview
China is run day to day by a Town Manager, with policy direction and oversight provided by the Select Board and a number of boards and committees made up of resident volunteers. This page is a directory of those boards and committees. Residents interested in serving on a board or committee can complete a Volunteer Application at the Town Office.

Boards and Committees with Their Own Pages
- Select Board: China’s five-member elected governing body. Select Board
- Planning Board: Reviews subdivisions, conditional uses, and other land use applications. Planning Board
- Appeals Board: Hears variance and appeal requests under the Land Development Code. Appeals Board
- Budget Committee: Reviews the town’s proposed budget and makes recommendations to voters. Budget Committee
- Cemetery Committee: Oversees the town’s cemeteries, cemetery lot sales, and monument placement. Cemetery Committee

- China for a Lifetime Committee: A volunteer program helping residents stay in the community as they age. China for a Lifetime Committee
- Thurston Park Committee: Oversees Thurston Park, which is currently open. Thurston Park Committee
- Tax Increment Financing Committee: Oversees China’s TIF program, lake-access projects, and revolving loan fund. Tax Increment Financing Committee
- Transfer Station Committee: Oversees the transfer station, with representatives from the Town of Palermo. Transfer Station Committee
- China Emergency Services Assessment Committee: A newly formed committee evaluating the town’s fire and ambulance services. China Emergency Services Assessment Committee
