Overview
The Recreation Committee is made up of up to seven China residents, appointed annually, who oversee recreational programs and the recreation budget. The committee meets the 4th Thursday of the month.
The town does not run ongoing recreation programs itself. Volunteers run a fall soccer program and a winter basketball program for PreK through 6th grade through the China Rec website. Youth baseball and softball for ages 5 to 12 is run separately by the China Youth League, and youth football runs independently through the high school level.
China has no public beach facilities, but it does have boat launches at the north and south ends of China Lake and on Three Mile Pond in Vassalboro.
