Access Permit

Since October 23, 2023, all vehicles entering the Transfer Station must have an access permit. The policy was most recently updated on October 6, 2025.

  • Permit fee: $2.00 per year, per vehicle

Permit rules vary depending on your situation:

  • China and Palermo year-round residents
  • Camp or seasonal property owners
  • Work vehicles
  • Short-term rental properties

Albion residents are no longer permitted to use the Transfer Station unless a separate agreement is in place for 2025.

What You Can Recycle

The Transfer Station accepts a range of recycling categories. See the current acceptable-materials list for details.

Free-for-the-Taking Building

The Free-for-the-Taking building lets residents take usable items for free. The following items are not allowed in the building:

  • Electronics
  • Mattresses
  • Chemicals
  • Weapons

To volunteer with the Free-for-the-Taking building, contact the Transfer Station.
