The Town Clerk’s office handles vital records, licensing, elections support, and a wide range of resident requests. The Town Clerk is Rebecca Hapgood. The Deputy Clerks are Julie Finley, Jennifer Chamberlain, Tammy Bailey, and Sydney Laird.

How China Got Its Name
China was named in 1818. The town’s name comes from a hymn called “China,” which was popular in the area at the time the town was incorporated. A copy of the hymn is available as a document.
